“One of the truly healing things in life is a simple
walk in the woods or stroll on the beach - exhilarating and deeply
satisfying at the same time. This sensation is what I am challenged to
re-create in my paintings. My earth portraits are a repository of
remembered pieces worked together to create an imaginative picture of
the land itself. Horizon is both the physical separation of land and sky
and a range of experience and perception. Using lyrical abstraction they
play with our senses as they suggest a shift in what we know as reality.
Precisely structured yet dancing with color and gesture they challenge
us with the tension that resides in experiencing the real and the
imagined all at once.” -- Barbara Rainforth
