As an artist and fifth generation Californian, Laurie Winthers is particularly drawn to California’s open spaces. Her current series of paintings portray sweeping views of landscapes that distill the scenery to convey a sense of uninterrupted land and sky. Her works are devoid of people, buildings and animals reflecting the artist’s keen interest in preserving the nature of the open spaces in which she grew up.
