Ken Waterstreet embarks on an innovative venture in a new
series of works titled “Full Bloom”. He is known for his classic form by
folding the figure in his long time obsession with art history and a his own
post-modern view. Waterstreet turns tables by captivating the viewer with
floral images that internally express how a botanist might glimpse through a
microscope. The images are fluent and explode with every detail. What might
look like shimmering water bubbles dripping throughout an Iris or Agapanthus,
Waterstreet articulates the feeling of the internal parts of the flower with
tiny hearts or scoops the layers with a variety of truly beautiful and
delicate forms. Both in variety and singularity he induces a titillating
aurora within each painting.
A master of oil painting, color and shape, Waterstreet
meets the viewer head-on with an expressive and intriguing look at the canvas,
bringing a sophisticated twist to his already finely established career as an
artist. |
