| April
at the Solomon Dubnick Gallery brings the anticipated “A Horse is a
Horse” show. Horses have appeared regularly in art since the beginning
of recorded history and have captured human imagination in a way that no
other animal can lay claim. Recognizing this longstanding affection for
horses, the gallery came upon the idea of hosting an exhibition entirely
devoted to the animal.
The aim was to give contemporary
artists the chance to express the spirit of the horse and the essence of
our relationship to the animal. The show features paintings, mixed media
and sculptures in glass, clay and bronze. Artists have gone beyond
literal interpretations of the horse, delving instead into the emotive.
These works create narratives that embody the soft majesty of the
physical horse and the myriad interchanges that occur between human and
equine personalities. |
