Universal in the use of
metaphors, Jack Ogden presents compelling expressionist paintings in
a new exhibition at Solomon Dubnick Gallery. Ogden held the position of
Professor of Art at CSUS for more than thirty-five years, where he continued
to influence several generations of artists. In his newly found retirement,
Ogden challenges the viewer with his dauntless, gutsy paintings. Composed in
a swashbuckling manner, Ogden presents his new series of paint cans, brushes
and buckets. Each painting employs additional intriguing elements that are
mysterious and cabalistic. As a narrative Ogden paints odd compositions that
appear to magically dance and cavort throughout each canvas.
