Detail, balance and
attention to perspective allows Diana Jahns to be
recognized as not only her handling of the oil medium but views
her having the edge above ordinary landscape painters. One must
beg the question, why does she sell so well and why do clients
love to place her works in homes and corporate settings?
Beyond the ordinary
landscape an artist must have a vision of how to apply oil
paint, and in her case not apply the paint. The delft manner of
oil painting is not easy and skill in doing this process takes
time and patience. It starts with knowing how to draw and in Jahns case; she is a superb pastel artist. Converting to the oil
painting technique from her perfect wispy sense in her pastel
drawings is not only unusual but technically fascinating. It
appears the Jahns handles the paint brush in a manner that is
much different from those who specialize in painting oils on
canvas or panel.
Renny Pritikin,
Director, RL Nelson Gallery, UC Davis states “Her
impressionistic works have both emotional accuracy and
perfection of color. Her attention is almost always given to the
particularity of a plant, or tree, suggesting a landscape
through microcosm.”
