Magdalene Crivelli - Ceramics

Water and boats are time-honored metaphors for our lives. Water has always had both a menacing and nurturing meaning to me. The boats reflects my wishes to be safe in the water, yet knowing the safety is, at best, tentative and, at worst, illusory. But we all need our boats to keep safe and ply across the waters we travel. These pieces carry me to another place for a while where my dreams and imagination lap up against the boat like water. I can peer down into them peacefully and unafraid for the moment.
