Our three featured artists in this month’s
exhibition, presenting new landscape paintings, are inspired by the
vigor, spirit and character of natural open spaces. Depicting a
variety of vistas from regions across the country and throughout
Europe, their work encompasses close observation and natural light
to create realistic views, which, in some instances, convey a sense
of romantic solitude and at other times generate an energy evoking
the lyrical spaciousness of the landscape.

is known for his elegant plein air tonal paintings
marked with romantic solitude. The colors depict the soft tones of
mountainsides, valleys and withering oak trees of the California landscape.
Paying careful attention to the majestic oak trees native to California, he
produces a series of long sleek, narrow oil on panel paintings of this
landscape. He gives special attention to open space and natural lighting in
the foothills adding special lighting of the sky ever changing moods.

structures his landscapes in colorful abstraction. His use of color
blends images intuitively responding to the non-objective to what is a
recognized landscape picture plane. Post plays with numerous colors
blending them with brush creating those special splashes needed to create
the appropriate landscape statement.
